Service Opportunities, Requirements & Contribution Options

Each Shnorhali family contributes to the life of the school through an annual service commitment designed to support school programs, events, operations, and our shared community.

OPTION 1

FAMILY SERVICE:

Complete at least two approved family-service roles or equivalent service assignments during the school year.

OPTION 2

$100 CONTRIBUTION:

Pay the $100  Annual Family Service Contribution instead of completing service assignments.

At a Glance

Families may fulfill the annual requirement in one of two ways:

  • Option 1 — Family Service: Complete at least two approved family-service roles or equivalent service assignments during the school year.

  • Option 2 — $100 Contribution: Pay the $100 Annual Family Service Contribution instead of completing service assignments.

  • The requirement applies once per family each school year, regardless of the number of children enrolled.

  • Service assignments must be approved and confirmed by the school in order to count toward the requirement.

  • Families choosing service must follow the approved assignment, schedule, safety, confidentiality, supervision, and safeguarding requirements.

  • If an assignment cannot be completed, families should notify the school promptly and receive approval for a replacement, make-up assignment, schedule change, or other arrangement.

  • Families experiencing significant scheduling, medical, caregiving, financial, or other circumstances may contact the Principal to discuss an alternative arrangement.

  • Family service is separate from the formal Volunteer & Internship Program; completing a family-service assignment does not automatically make someone a program volunteer or intern.

  • Completing service or paying the $100 contribution fulfills only the Annual Family Service Commitment and does not replace tuition, required meetings, communication, or other parent responsibilities.

For available service opportunities, assignment procedures, missed-service options, and complete requirements, please review the Family Service Information Guide and the applicable policies in the Parent & Family Handbook.

What families can expect from the school, and how parents and guardians support their child and the school community

At a Glance

Shnorhali School teachers play an important role not only in instruction, but also in student safety, responsibility, faith, Armenian identity, and the life of our school community.

  • Be prepared and on time. Homeroom teachers are expected to be at school and ready to begin their responsibilities by 9:30 AM.

  • Use instructional time fully. Classes should begin on time, remain focused on learning, and continue through the scheduled end of the period.

  • Come prepared to teach. Lessons, materials, assignments, and necessary resources should be prepared before class begins.

  • Maintain accurate student records. Attendance, assignments, assessments, grades, and student progress should be recorded consistently and on time.

  • Supervise students at all times. A teacher remains responsible for students until supervision has been clearly transferred to another authorized adult.

  • Protect student safety and well-being. Health concerns, injuries, emotional crises, safety issues, or child-protection concerns must be taken seriously and reported through the appropriate school process.

  • Maintain professional boundaries. Teacher-student relationships should always remain appropriate, respectful, and connected to an educational, supervisory, or school-approved purpose.

  • Help students understand their rights and responsibilities. Teachers should guide students in becoming responsible members of the school community by teaching respect, accountability, self-discipline, and care for others.

  • Communicate professionally with families. Families should receive clear, timely information about classroom learning, assignments, progress, and significant concerns.

  • Respect confidentiality. Student, family, and staff information should only be shared when there is a legitimate educational, safety, administrative, or legal need.

  • Model appropriate conduct. Teachers are expected to communicate respectfully, use technology responsibly, dress appropriately for a school and church setting, and model the behavior expected from students.

  • Participate in the life of the school. Required meetings, programs, rehearsals, events, worship activities, and other assigned responsibilities are part of the teacher’s professional role.

  • Ask questions and raise concerns. Teachers are encouraged to seek clarification, offer professional input, and report concerns in a respectful and timely manner.
